THOUGHT CLEANERS
They help you clean up your thoughts.
The gemora, halachah, Mussar seforim and seforim hakedoshim stress how important it is for us to purify our thoughts and to rid our minds of those unwanted “dirty” thoughts we periodically think.
Thought Cleaners are dry, pure-white wipes, made of extra-soft cotton, that you lightly rub across your forehead each time you experience a “dirty” thought. After a few gentle wipes with a Thought Cleaner, you will see that the “dirt” gets transferred onto the Thought Cleaner and that it becomes easier for you to replace that thought with a “cleaner” one.

ALTERNATE METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION: rather than wiping, crumple one up and press it gently against your forehead. If you want them to, Thought Cleaners have the ability to “soak up” whatever thought it is that you are struggling with.
(At times of intense anguish, please resist the temptation to push the Thought Cleaner into your mind and dig out the thought. Rather, just press gently on your forehead from the outside until the thought is “soaked up.”)
As always, we suggest that you fill the resultant void with thoughts and spoken words of
· thanks and gratitude to Hashem for His having made you aware that you need to “clean up” your thoughts (rather than secretly reveling in them or trying to find some secret way to gratify them like you have been doing up until now) and for helping you to do it,
· thanks and gratitude to Hashem for all the multitude of nice things that He always does for you;
· recognizing Hashem’s hashgachah (overseeing) with you;
· sincere requests from Him for forgiveness and rachomim (compassion);
· and/or with divrei Torah;
(and not with thoughts of self-condemnation for having thought the original thoughts in the first place).
Machine-washable Thought Cleaners come in a convenient “pop up” dispenser for quick, easy grabbing.
If you clean up your thoughts now, you’ll save yourself years of torment down the line.”
Ribono Shel Olum: Ruler of the Universe. Thank You for making me realize that I have to clean up my thoughts (rather than my secretly reveling in them or trying to find some secret way to gratify them like I have been doing up until now), and thank You for helping me do it.”

SELECTED RELEVANT QUOTATIONS FROM SEFORIM HAKEDOSHIM
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF SOME OF THE ABOVE QUOTATIONS
· (Berachos 61a) Rabbi Shimon ben Pazzi said, Woe to me from my yetzer (yetzer horrah) and woe to me from my yotzer (Creator, in Hebrew). (Rashi: Woe to me from my yotzer if I walk after my yetzer, and if I don’t walk after it, woe to me from my yetzer which will wear me out with thoughts.)
· (Tahoras HaKodesh, maamar Pegam Hamachshavah, ch. 4, s.v. v’taida) He to whom these thoughts of sin come and he separates from them, then immediately, from this pushing away and separating, an awesome and holy angel is created from the World of Creation - The World of Thought, which helps him in all areas of holiness. And at that time, the whole of the sitra achra and all the bad, impure creatures are thrown into the Lower Abode. For there is no light like light that comes out of darkness. And it is brought in sifrei yirah that the fundamental fixing up of one’s sexual function more than any other rectification is to battle the thoughts of sin and to not allow them entry into one’s thoughts…. And a holy Jew who performs all kinds of clever tactics and does not allow himself these bad thoughts, then he is called holy and with this he makes his body and all his organs holy. And the more that these thoughts bother him, the greater is his reward and the more rectified do his nefesh, ruach and neshamah become through this. And fortunate is his portion and lot.
· (Rashbam, Pesachim 112a, s.v. arba deios) And it is taught, a person should not perform his marital duty with his wife and put his eyes on another woman, for then his children will be almost mamzerim and will be called “children of the divorced from the heart.
· (The Arizal, Likutei Torah, parshas Vayera, s.v. v’omnom) Why was the Torah strict with a person that he make himself holy during the time he performs his marital duty? Because if he sanctifies himself, then he pulls down the “clothing” of a holy neshamah through which the child will merit to serve Hashem. And even though it will be a big neshamah, it needs the sanctification of his father at the time of his marital duty. For if not, the opposite will be true, this “clothing” will damage the child, similar to the yetzer horrah. And it will turn out that if the son sins, his sin will be attributed to the father.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Vayeilech, no. 9, from the sefer Ben Poras Yosef) Every movement and thought, everything is from Hashem, be He blessed.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Shemos, note 18, from Heichal HaBerachah) Also, if many foreign thoughts and mighty walls come up before him, he should know that they are clothings and coverings with which Hashem is hiding there to see who will turn away his heart.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Shemos, no. 12, from the sefer Zos Zicharon) One’s thoughts should be attached to Hashem so that no other thought can come to him at all.
· (Kedushas Levi, parshas Terumah, s.v. Vayik’chu) Every person must serve the Creater, be He blessed, with action and with thought, for through the pure intention and thought he raises the Shechinah from the dirt (see our product idea, The Shechinah Phone), and the action is so that he will become elevated and he will cause good to himself.
· (Meshech Chochmah, parshas Vayikra, 20:7) However, the powers of thought are not in the control of a person, for what can one do if his heart thinks and his mind entices? Therefore, Hashem promised, “and you will be made holy:” meaning, that you should do actions to be holy - distant from all abominations - and I promise you, “and you will be holy,” that I will purify your thoughts. For “he who comes to be purified, they help him.”
· (Sfas Emes, parshas Haazinu, year 634, s.v. yaarof) All that is asked of a person is that he be in the true status to straighten up his actions and thoughts.
· (Kli Yakar, parshas Terumah, 25:10, s.v. yaheneh) All who learn Torah need more warning on the purity of their inner heart which is only seen by Hashem alone, but on his externals he doesn’t need so much warning because every person’s way is to glorify himself in order to find favor in the eyes of man.
· (Taharas Hakodesh, maamar Pegam Hamachshavah, ch. 3) All bad thoughts are rooted in the Halls of the Klipos and awaken their power. Nevertheless, since the person is regretful and the thought doesn’t come to action, then the thought is not accounted to him as an action. And even though the neshamah of a bad angel is created, HaKadosh Baruch Hu, in His compassion, nullifies it so it is completely abolished, since the person has regret and doesn’t do the sin.
· (Vayikra Rabbah 7:3) Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai said, The olah (korbon) only ever really came (was offered) because of thoughts of the heart.
