THE SLICER
A mental device to help you be victorious in your battles.
It is related in the haftarah to parshas Zachor, that when Shaul HaMelech had spared the life of Agag, King of Amalek (and because of which Hashem removed Shaul HaMelech from being King), Shmuel HaNavi took his sword and hacked the Amalek king to pieces.
Similarly, when you find yourself battling with your own or someone else’s yetzer hora, and the battle is getting to be too much for you, picture yourself slicing up either their yetzer hora or your own with The Slicer, the imaginary blade from an imaginary meat slicer. Since the blade is not attached to a machine, you can slice up the yetzer hora in pieces of whatever shape and size you like.
Make sure you use this only as a mental technique to aid you in your fight against the yetzer hora. NEVER, EVER actually harm anyone (including yourself), either physically or with words.

There is a danger that when you use The Slicer against another person's (or your own) yetzer hora, you might easily begin to feel angry at that person (or at yourself). But, as the Rambam teaches (Hilchos Deos 2:3), anger is one of the feelings that you should train yourself to never feel. At the most, you can display an angry expression, but never feel the anger inside.
Therefore, in order to avoid the trap of feeling angry, after (or while) you use The Slicer on anyone (or yourself), make sure you recount 4 positive and desirable qualities about that person (or yourself), and also see the situation from the other person's perspective and find a justification for the other person’s behavior that you used (or are using) The Slicer against.
You also must make sure you slice up only the person's yetzer hora and not the person himself or herself.
