THE GEULAH SIDDUR
(See our related product ideas, The Prayer Pacer, and Free Help on How To Get Closer To Hashem.)
Increase your kavanah during davening with our special Geulah format.
In line with what Rashi (Shabbos 127b, s.v. hochi garsinin) and Noam Elimelech (Parshas Tzav, s.v. Zos (2)) say, that “praying with cavannah is gemilas chesed (paying kindness) to one’s soul,” The Geulah Siddur is able to help you do just that.
The Geulah Siddur is a standard siddur in which every word or part of a word that refers to Hashem, including pronouns, or verbs that describe an action of His, is highlighted by being set in bold and bigger type. In addition, every name of Hashem is highlighted with a sky-blue background so that all the names of Hashem stand out on the page.
Here is a picture of the first page of Shemoneh Esreh:
The Geulah Siddur:
| · |
helps to bring Hashem out of hiding for you (so to speak), |
| · |
helps you to direct your attention to Hashem, |
| · |
helps you to think of what you’re saying, |
| · |
helps to revive your interest in davening. |
As an extra cavannah-improving suggestion to users of The Geulah Siddur, we suggest that during those times during davening when it seems that you are unable to concentrate on what you’re saying no matter how hard you try, each time you say one of the bold-faced words or part-words, raise your finger slightly upwards to Hashem - as if you’re pointing to Him as you say the word. You’ll find that will make you concentrate on each word as you say it and direct your attention to Hashem.
When it is professionally produced, included in every Geulah Siddur will be, b’ezras Hashem, a copy of our other product ideas, The Sefiras HaOmer Chart and The Handy Havdalah Chart.

SELECTED RELEVANT QUOTATIONS FROM SEFORIM HAKEDOSHIM
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF SOME OF THE ABOVE AND OTHER QUOTATIONS
· (Rashi, Shabbos 127b, s.v. hochi garsinin) Concentrating in prayer is included in gemilas chosodim.
· (Noam Elimelech, parshas Tzav, s.v. Zos (2)) Prayer with cavannah (intention, meaning) is gemilas chesed to the soul.
· The Baal Shem Tov jumped up and said… Know that a Jew who is working in the market all day and towards evening becomes afraid and says, “Woe is me, that I will miss the time of Minchah,” and he goes to one house and davens Minchah, and he doesn’t know what he is saying, nevertheless the Serafim and the Ophanim (Heavenly angels) tremble from this. (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Kedoshim, note 12, from the sefer Shivchei Baal Shem Tov)
·(Haichel HaBrochah, parshas Naso, p. 24b) The essential part of one’s toil in Torah and prayer is that he attaches himself to the inner spiritual unlimited light that is within the letters of the Torah and prayer, and this is the essential of learning “lishmah.”
· (Taanis 2a) It was taught: (Devorim 11:13) “To love Hashem your G-d and to serve Him with all your heart.” Which is the service that is in the heart, you must say this is prayer.
· (Berachos 5b) We learned: It is the same if one does a lot or if one does a little, as long as his heart is directed toward Heaven. (Sulchan Oruch, Orach Chaim, 1:4: A few prayers with cavannah are better than many with no cavannah.) (Mishnah Berurah, Ibid., number 12: But if he who says a lot of prayers also has cavannah, it is better to say a lot…. And he who is a student of the Torah and has a heart to understand and to learn, can withhold from saying a lot of the prayers and requests that are printed in the siddurim, and it is better that he learns in their place.)
· (Megillah 31b) Avrohom said before Hakadosh Baruch Hu, “Ribono Shel Olum, maybe, chas v'shalom, Yisrael will be sinners before You and You will do to them like the Generation of the Flood or the Generation of the Dispersion.” He said to him, “No.” He said before Him, “Ribono Shel Olum, with what will I know?” He said to him, “(Bereishis 15:9) Take for Me an eglah mishuleshes….” He said before Him, “Ribono Shel Olum, that is fine during the time that the Beis HaMikdash is standing, during the time that the Beis HaMikdash is not standing, what will be with them?” He said to him, “I already fixed for them the seder hakorbonos (order of saying the korbonos at the beginning of Shacharis). Every time that they say them, I will attribute it to them as if they offered a korbon before me and I will forgive them of all their sins.”
· (Maharal, Nesivos Olum, Nesiv HaAvodah, perek 1, s.v. Zevach) The service [of Hashem] is not because it is a benefit for Hashem, be He blessed, rather it is only a benefit for the person.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, Amud HaTefillah, note 125, s.v. U’b’sefer Likutim Yikorim) And would that it would be that a person would merit in all his prayer to say one posuk, or two or three words, to Hashem, be He blessed.
· (Sfas Emes, parshas Shofetim, year 631, s.v. aa”z (1)) Praise to Hashem, be He blessed, who removes the concealment caused by the Chitzonim (“Outside Forces), and this is [the function of] Pesukei D’zimrah which is before the prayer, to drive out the Sitra Achrah (“Other Side”).
· (Noam Elimelech, parshas Yisro, s.v. bachodesh) Bring out nitzotzos hakedoshos (“holy sparks’) through Pesukei D’zimrah.
· (Maharal, Nesivos Olum, Nesiv Haavodah, ch. 3, s.v. haavodah) The service to Hashem, be He blessed, which there is for a Jew in galus, in every place, is prayer.
· (Avigdor Miller, Behold A People, p.135.) To dwell long in a Sanctuary is an extremely uncomfortable experience for all but the noblest of men.
· (Maharal, Nesivos Olum, Nesiv Haavodah, ch. 2, s.v. u’b’perek tefilas) Prayer is clinging to Hashem…. And prayer is the direct way that a person goes up to Hashem, be He blessed.
· (Sfas Emes, parshas V’eschanon, year 634, s.v. b’midrash) Everything depends on a person according to how he orders the thoughts of his heart and his entire being to arrange in himself the praise of Hashem and His Kingship, be He blessed. And similarly all the creatures are pulled after him. Accordingly, Chazal fixed every day brochos and thanks and pesukei d’zimrah to straighten up and order all the acts of Creation.
· (Noam Elimelech, parshas Vayichi, s.v. Oh yomar (5)) The majority of people aren’t able to elevate themselves to the service of Hashem due to the greatness of their physicality which is overly physical.
