CURRENT STAGE OF PRODUCTION for The Scalpel:
· Production is completed.
Feel free to use it whenever you need it.
THE SCALPEL
A mental device to help you separate the good from the bad in yourself and other people.
When you’re having trouble with yourself or another person, use our imaginary Scalpel to selectively carve out those aspects of yourself or the other person that are controlled by the yetzer hora and leave only those parts that are under the control of the Yetzer Tov.
The Scalpel is different from our other mental-anti-yetzer-hora products (such as The Mental Anti-yetzer hora Flamethrower, or The Mental Anti-yetzer hora Machete Knife, or even The Slicer) (see the listings under “Armamentarium For Faint Hearted,” in the column to the right; and Anti-yetzer-hora ideas, down farther in column to the left), in that those other products of ours work on the whole yetzer hora at once. The Scalpel, on the other hand, lets you dissect out those parts that you don’t like about yourself or the other person and leave only those parts that you like.

As with anything that requires skill, when you start using The Scalpel you will probably not be able to dissect out all the yetzer hora parts completely and may even enter into some areas of the Yetzer Tov. But after you work with The Scalpel for a while, you will be able to become more and more exact on which parts of yourself or the other person you excise and which you leave in place.
· (Maharsha, Baba Basra 58b, s.v. b’rosh) Because most bad character traits… like anger and jealousy and hate, and the like, are all sicknesses of the soul.
· (Sfas Emes, parshas toldos, year 632, s.v. gam) …to be an absolute hater of the yetzer hora….
