· (Biur Halacha, Orach Chaim, siman 1, s.v. hoo klal) Everything that is in the world, from wealth or children or honor, is all nothing compared to Hashem’s love, be He blessed; and one should constantly exert himself in requesting the wisdom of the Torah in order to reach knowledge of Hashem.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Shemos, #14, from the sefer Ohr HaMeir) People are able to call You [Hashem] by name and draw Your supervision upon them…. And afterwards I heard people say this in the name of the Baal Shem Tov.
· (Baal Shem Tov on the Torah, parshas Bechukosai, #8, from the sefer Tolodos Yaakov Yosef) The k’rus is thoughts and contemplations of the heart for good, and therefore there is not a wicked person who doesn’t have good thoughts every day, from the power of the k’rus, but when the good thoughts come he turns them away and pushes them from his heart, and he turns his heart to idleness.

The tzaddik puts his heart to carry out what he hears, but the rasha destroys the good thought from his heart. And therefore there are many things and awakenings from Above that wake up a person. For when any fear or fright is awakened in the world, the tzaddik awakens his heart all the day only to fear of Hashem. And the same with happiness: the tzaddik makes himself cling to the joy of mitzvos and the unlimited Godly light. And also the rasha is awakened each moment with fear or joy and love but he destroys it and uses it for inferior and lowly things; whereas the tzaddik is awakened from lowly things to the Godly wisdom. And in a similar manner, the wise person should hear and increase his wisdom.
· (Sfas Emes, parshas Behar, 632, s.v. u’b’col) Through the constant will and desire to cling to Hashem, the penimius (inner) is opened and the geulah comes.
· (Sfas Emes, parshas Chayei Sarah) It comes out that, every day, Hakadosh Baruch Hu puts, within each Jew, a point of awakening to cling to Him.
