THE THOUGHTS ORGANIZER
Helps you control your thoughts.
Probably the biggest obstacle that prevents most people from being able to accomplish what they want to accomplish is their mind flying from one thought to another or by its being bombarded by extraneous thoughts, thus making them unable to adequately concentrate on the task at hand. A prime example is during davening but it also happens during learning, while relating to other people, in business, etc.
Once you are able to control your thoughts and isolate them so that other thoughts aren’t interfering, you are free to accomplish whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish.
The Thoughts Organizer can help you to train yourself to organize your thoughts so they don’t have a “mind of their own,” so you will be able to think only those thoughts that are helpful for you at the moment.
The Thoughts Organizer is a plastic box with 32 grey buttons, with a counting window above each button, something like this:
Each button is labeled with one thought category from the list of thoughts below. The button in the upper right corner is white, for Thinking-In-Learning thoughts. The button in the lower left corner is black, for forbidden thoughts. The button in the lower right is for thoughts other than those labeled.
When a certain thought comes into your mind you press its corresponding button and the number in the counting window advances one number.
Sit in front of The Thoughts Organizer and let your mind wander like it usually does. Or else start to learn, and pay attention to the thoughts that start to bombard your mind. Each time a different thought comes up, press its corresponding button. Do the same with every thought that comes into your mind. The Thoughts Organizer gives you practice in paying attention to the thoughts that you are thinking and of isolated them from your other thoughts. After practicing for a while you’ll find that it becomes easier for you to identify the thoughts in your mind, thereby letting you decide which ones you want to think, which then leads you to be free to apply your concentration to your task at hand.
The 32 pre-labeled thought categories on The Thoughts Organizer are:
1. chores to do
