THE ABLATOR
Rid yourself of anxiety and depression, and of unwanted impulses, thoughts, feelings, actions, behavior patterns, personality traits or autonomic physical reactions.
The explanation of this product is somewhat long because it is one of our most important products.
Based on classical Behavior Therapy principles, but going a step further by attacking the problem at its core, The Ablator can help you to rid yourself of anxiety, depression, and unwanted impulses, thoughts, feelings, actions, behavior patterns, personality traits or autonomic physical reactions.
Just press the button on this little black box and it says, “No, no, no, no, no, no, no...” over and over and over again, in varying tones of voice, speeds of repetition, lengths of each “no,” loudnesses (including whispers) and degrees of assertiveness. It continues endlessly until you shut it off.
Because of the variety of ways that “no” is said, listening to them is a pleasant experience. In contrast to your long-standing reaction of objecting to being told “no,” now, strangely enough, being told “no” becomes a comforting and even a happy, looked forward to event. (We say, “strangely enough,” but it’s not really so strange. It’s actually very comforting and consolidating to be told “no” properly and consistently. As it says in Mishlei (Proverbs) 13:24: “He who holds back his rod hates his son, but he who loves him chastises him early.” Underneath everything else, one’s neshamah (soul) knows what is right and what is wrong, and is relieved and comforted to have someone properly reinforce and restrict what is wrong. And for proof, consider Shabbos: Shabbos is a day that’s filled with “no’s” and look how much better you feel on it.)
From the psychological perspective, probably the primary reason why these unwanted feelings, impulses, thoughts, etc. happen to you in the first place is because you were either born with or picked-up-along-the-way “holes” in the ability of your conscience to say “no” - “holes in the mind,” if you will (or superego lacunae in Freudian terminology) - “holes” which lead to “tunnels” which lead to “rooms,” all of which should never be entered, and once entered are very difficult to leave. Since you were initially unable (many times through no fault of your own) to say “no” at the right time to the proper things, your mind became open to entertain initially intriguing or pleasurable but ultimately disturbing impulses, thoughts and fantasies.
But now, the constant repetition of the word “no,” especially through a medium that makes you feel happy and secure, allows you to incorporate these “no’s” into your own internal “no”-saying voice, which, with repetition, helps to fill up first the “rooms”, then the “tunnels”, and then finally also the “holes”, with Hashem’s help.
Some people have also found that by assigning identifying names to the “rooms,” they are able to leave them more quickly.
After only a few listens and after a few sessions of your repeatedly saying “no” to yourself, you will see that a calm starts to take over you and you will start to get a handle on your problem, which makes you want to continue saying “no” to yourself as often as you can, which, along with much help from Hashem, makes the problem get resolved in the end.
You can turn the dial on The Ablator and choose between one male voice, different male voices in succession, or a group of males speaking in unison (these are the choices in the machine for males to use; the machine for females to use has female voices in the same choices - because for optimal mental functioning, your internal “no”-saying voice should be of the same sex as you are).
The Ablator comes with a headphone outlet and detachable belt clip, for private, portable listening. A recording of these “no’s” is also separately available as a tape, CD or MP3 for your stereo, Walkman or MP3 player, or as a recorded phone message that you can call from any phone, so you can hear it every time you need to.
A WORD TO THE WISE: Since you probably will be using this product to rid yourself of a problem that has been with you for some time, realize that the problem is not going to go away with only one or two listens. You will assuredly feel some improvement right from the beginning, but you will also have setbacks and disappointments, sometimes big ones. Don’t let those worry you, and don’t stop using The Ablator because of them. Think how long the problem has been going on. Think how far back and how deep these “no’s” have to reach. Forge ahead! Pursue! Bring these “no’s” to every corner, to every crevice, to every memory of every event, to every current occurrence. In spite of the sadness - to spite the sadness. In spite of the self-condemnations - to spite the self-condemnations. In spite of the despair and the giving up hope - to spite the despair and the giving up hope. Forge ahead! Pursue! And bit-by-bit you’ll watch and see your problem disappear, with Hashem’s help.

CURRENT STAGE OF PRODUCTION of The Ablator:
· Needs production.
· You can easily make one yourself. Record yourself saying “no” over and over again on both sides of a 60 minute tape (you can do it in installments). (Recording it on both sides allows you to listen continuously without having to rewind the tape.) You also need to spend as much time as you can saying “no” to yourself without the tape.
SELECTED RELEVANT QUOTATIONS FROM SEFORIM HAKEDOSHIM
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE ABOVE QUOTATIONS
· (Meshech Chochmah, parshas Shemos, 12:22, s.v. U’b’derech) …And along the same lines, I explained the puzzling and wonderful saying in Pesachim (112b): Rav said, “The cry for a bull (to chase it away or get it to work) is ‘hain, hain;’ the cry for a lion is ‘zeh, zeh;’ the cry for a camel is ‘da, da;’ the cry for a boat is ‘heelnee, haya, heela v’heelook hoolya.’” And the intention is that the things that are needed to arouse an animal is one simple utterance that is repeated many times. And to awaken strength and desire, it is on the speaker to use different phrases in order to awaken the strength of a person to pull a rope,. This is an amazing matter to teach us how to break the power of our desires: it is best to awaken it with one word [underlining added] or one idea many times. For example, when a person desires a forbidden thing, he should say with enthusiasm, many times something which frightens him, such as, “Envy and desire and honor take a man out of the world,” or “Come and consider the loss caused by a sin against its reward,” and things like that. But to straighten up one’s thinking and to right one’s ideas against the errors in the heart of the person, for this he must think and make himself wise through varying arguments and ideas, with different answers, to awaken the right ideas which are engraved in the Jewish wisdom. And this is deep.
· (Rav Dessler, Michtav Mi’Eliyahu, vol. 2, p. 84) Tshuvah (returning to Hashem) is able to fix up very much, but it is not able to fix up everything completely. For a complete fixing up, it is required that Hashem, be He blessed, returns to the penitent and fixes him up from the standpoint of Hashem’s kindness.
